Joo Kodit will broaden its rental home offering in Nokia in late 2023. The new apartment complexes will produce solar electricity and use a geothermal heating system for both heating and cooling.

The construction of new Joo rental apartments has started in the Puroniitty neighbourhood of Nokia. To be completed in late 2023, the apartment complexes known as Asunto Oy Nokian Tanhuankadun Salsa and Asunto Oy Nokian Tanhuankadun Rumba will comprise a total of 181 rental homes. These will include studios as well as one and two bedroom apartments.

Joo Kodit promises its tenants carefree rental living. This promise also means knowing that your home has been built sustainably and with minimal environmental impact, says Joo Kodit’s Head of Sustainability Antti Niskanen.

– Creating a sustainable lifestyle is a concern we share with our tenants. It’s up to us to offer more sustainable Joo rental homes to our residents. As a clear example of this, we require all our new developments to reach the highest energy efficiency class A, Niskanen says.

Nokian Tanhuankadun Salsa and Rumba are built by Arkta Rakennus, one of Finland’s leading companies in the field of low-carbon construction. The company’s Chief Executive Officer Antti Palo-oja points out that the energy efficiency of a residential development is the sum of many parts.

– The energy efficiency of Salsa and Rumba is improved by a solar panel system. It’s been designed to collect the maximum amount of the sun’s energy beyond the brightest summer’s days, too.

Comfort has been another key factor in the design of the rental apartments, Palo-oja adds.

– The cooling function of the ventilation system is connected to the geothermal heating system. That enables us to leverage the cooling effect of the geothermal wells in summer. The heat energy from the geothermal wells will be used to heat the apartments in winter.

A neighbourhood where life runs smoothly

The fast-growing and attractive Nokia is the second largest city in the Pirkanmaa region after Tampere. The new neighbourhood of Puroniitty is taking shape near the Nokia railway station. Planned ambitious development projects in the area include a travel centre, which will serve everyone from public transport and private vehicle users to pedestrians and cyclists. The cultural heritage of Nokia’s industrial past is acknowledged by preserving the historic factory buildings of the area.

Nokian Tanhuankadun Salsa and Rumba will also stand out with their ample and varied communal spaces. Residents will be able to enjoy a gym, a communal sauna, and a laundry room. The amenities of central Nokia are just one kilometre’s walk away, while the centre of Tampere can be reached in 15 minutes by train. Besides excellent transport connections, the neighbourhood also offers beautiful nature walks along a stream in the nearby forest.
